El-Madras

Is a small place called El-Madras is located on top of a hill left side of the Siq and it is approached by a long flight of steps. El-Madras is one of the old names used by the Nabataeans and was always mentioned in relation wit god Dushara, it still retains the name by which it was known to the Nabataeans. The translation of the word "Madras" is most likely to be "with rugged prominences", but with the often disconcerting ambiguity of Arabic, it could mean "school" or "oil press".
