Turkmaniyya Tomb

Turkmaniyya Tomb

Turkmaniyya Tomb boasts the longest Nabataean Inscription yet found in Petra; is located in Wadi Turkmaniyya to the west of Mughar en-Nasara. It is situated right down on "water level" which may account for the fact that its lower part has been completely worn away; the top half of the façade seems to hang rather perilously on to the cliff and is considered a large-scale one and within there is a spacious chamber and an inner chamber that contains a single loculi. Between the inner two pilasters which adorn the façade there is a long Nabataean inscription that gives vital information about the subsidiaries of the tomb. One of the most important is the mention of Dusharas' throne.
