Dana in Jordan offers a wide of selection of trails for both the casual and adventures hikers, because the rock formations in Dana were quite interesting. Dana Nature reserve is one of Jordans most amazing dynamic and impressive natural sites, Trails throughout the area allow for easy trekking and viewing in this stunning area. Guided hikes offer visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy a stimulating walk; Dana also boasts a comfortable mild climate, which makes it an ideal stop for hiking or relaxing at any time of the year, visitors will be able to learn about the geology, wildlife, and history of Dana in natural classroom, as you are surrounded by the natural beauty of the Dana and lavished with traditional Arab hospitality.

Trails throughout the area allow for easy trekking and viewing in this stunning area, because Dana Village sites near the highest point of the reserve, at 1600 meters, offering spectacular views of the wadi below. You should understand and note that in Dana are not allowed and not supposed to hike or leave the marked trails and no independent camping is allowed, most of the trails are marked with intermitted piles of stones along the route, and can therefore be hiked independently or with Camp guides (RSCN GUIDES), there other trails witch are longer and unmarked, you must be hike with guide. Guides are available at the Rommana campsite, Dana village, and Feinan upon request.

Easy trail

It has 4 types of trails:

Easy to moderate trail

It has 2 types of trails:

  1. Wadi Dethneh trail
  2. Feathens Canyon trail (Shaq AL- Reesh)

Easy trail

Village tour trail 2 hours walk visiting some spectacular view point Dana village, exploring the terraced gardens and local community craft, workshops.

Campsite trail

2 hours circular walk around Rommana campsite area, a good place to see birds especially in the immigration seasons. The Rummana Trail leads from the campsite to the scenic summit of Rummana Mountain. You will pass some magnificent rock structures with mysterious mushroom-shaped formations and you may see birds-of-prey, such as the Kestrel, Long-legged Buzzard and Griffon Vulture, soaring along the mountain edge.

Feinan copper mine trail

Short trail, 3 km taking around 2 hrs .starts from the lodge and visits ancient copper mines and the impressive tell of kherbat feynan, with its Byzantine churches and graves.

Wadi Ghweir trail

It will take between 3-4 hours, 8 klm distances, starts from the lodge, via kherbet Feinan with its Byzantine archaeology, to Wadi Feinan, continues along the gravel river bed of the Wadi .alongside a flowing stream to the entrance to Wadi Ghweir, if time permits a small excursion will be made into the Ghweir canyon.

Easy to moderate trail

Wadi Dana trail

Long hike, 14 km, it will take between 5-7 hours. Spectacular downhill walk from Dana to Feinan through the sandstone gorge of Wadi Dana, possible to stay overnight in the Feinan Eco-Lodge and return transport to Dana can be arrange. Long hike lovers will enjoy this hiking experience for 14 Km of hiking.

Nawatef trail

2 km circular trail, it will take 2 hours, starting from AL-barra to the beautiful spring and ancient ruins in Nawatef area.

The cave trail

Short hike about 1.5 km, it will take 1.5 hour start from the campsite, passing the unusual sandstone formations of Shaq AL- Khalbah to a group of small caves through to religious retreat or hermitage, the hike follows along the slopes of Shaq AL-Khalbah (Wadi of the Dog), the caves were used from the nabataean to early Islamic periods, several animals including the Hyena, Wolf and Wild Cat are known to frequent these caves. The caves provide an excellent spot for viewing the reserve. From the caves, you can see Shagg al Kelbe in front of you, and Wadi Dana and the old Dana Village to your left.

Rommana Mountain trail

2.5 km circular walk, taking around 2 hrs. Starts from the campsite and to the top of Rommana Mountain, where the excellent views over Wadi Araba, highlights include magnificent rock structures of sandstone and limestone, birds of prey, and beautiful views of nature reserve.

White Dome trail

8 km, taking 3 – 4 hours .the trail contours the huge escarpments of wadi Dana between Rommana camp and Dana village, it offers breath –taking views of the canyon hike and passes through the village terraced gardens.

Moderate to hard trail

Wadi Dethneh trail A 16 km, it will take between 6-8 hours, hard hiking, very suitable for adventure lovers the route descends wadi dethneh, past an oasis, through Wadi AL- Hamra the Feinan area.

Feathens Canyon trail (Shaq AL-Reesh)

A circular 3-4 hours hike to a breath taking Siq from al-Barra to Shaq AL- Reesh for 3 km passing rock area containing Nabateans tomb.
